I have recently transferred to another internal organization within IBM. I am now supporting the Financial and Insurance sectors. Our group participates in approximately ten trade shows annually. I have also been promoted to the Conference Manager for two of our industry conferences. Subsequent to my certification, I have obtained two additional certifications (CMP – Certified Meeting Professional and CMM – Certified Meeting Manager). I am currently pursuing my 4th certification, PMP – Project Manager Professional. I truly believe that you need to constantly strive to better yourself professionally. Doing so allows you to perform at a higher level and is a means through which you can help to improve the product that you produce for your company.

Tip to Program Newcomers:
Don’t throw your handouts and notes away. They are great reference tools that can be utilized in the future. It is amazing how much I have referred back to mine for ideas and information. Also establish contacts with your peers. They may have had the same problems that you are having and can provide valuable advice.
