Supelco is a world leader in the manufacture of chromatography products used by scientists across the fields of medicine, forensic science, petrochemical companies, food and beverage, government agencies, contract labs, biotechnology researchers and pharmaceutical producers. I began my career with them in March of 1987. I did not stay in one spot long, as I wanted to take every opportunity I could to learn about the company. During my tenure I have worked in the stockroom, warehouse, receiving, shipping, purchasing, and the labs. In 1997 a position for a trade show coordinator was available. I felt it was something I would enjoy doing, and for the past seven years I have been in the marketing department planning Supelco/Signa-Aldrich trade shows.
The experience I gained working in various departments of the company enhanced my knowledge and has allowed me to do a much better job in representing and presenting the company in my current position. Because of my background and product knowledge, I am capable of actually selling on the trade show floor.
In 2002 I learned of the CTSM program from a colleague. In March of 2003 I attended my first EXHIBITOR SHOW and began my journey to become a certified trade show marketer. I put my goal on the fast track - completed all my classes in March 2004, passed the comprehensive exam in August 2004, submitted my written portfolio in November and obtained my credentials in December 2004. |
