After graduating with a business degree in Marketing from Shippensburg University and a brief stint at an insurance company, I began my career 14 years ago in 1990 at a company then known as Systems & Computer Technology Corp. (SCT), Malvern, PA. I was the sole Marketing Coordinator within the Information Resource Management (IRM) business unit. This unit served both the higher education and government markets by providing onsite data processing services and staff.
Several years later, I transferred to the Corporate Marketing Department for the position of Conference Coordinator. A promotion to Conference Manager soon followed, where I had the responsibility to manage the conference program logistics for the entire company, whose business units had now grown to also include utility and manufacturing. The Corporate Marketing Department executed the logistics, which I was now responsible for. The Marketing Departments in each of the business units determined the strategy. This unique split of logistic and strategy responsibilities provided efficiencies in resources, time, and money.
Most recently my company sold all but one of its operating units, education. In essence, we went back to our roots, to our original vertical market. In February of 2004, SunGard Inc. of Wayne, PA, acquired us. Under them we will remain an independent operating unit focused solely on the higher education market. Now known as SunGard SCT, Inc., we provide software and service solutions to help institutions create the Unified Digital Campus for seamless interactive learning, teaching and administration. We support over 1300 client institutions. |
