hen Wells Fargo & Co. Express exhibited at the 1915-1916 Panama-California Exposition in San Diego, it was as much a Wild West legend as the OK Corral. Half bank/half shipping company, the San Francisco company managed the Pony Express, and later its own stage lines, delivering mail, gold, livestock, and even ladybugs for pest control in its branded red-and-gold Concord stagecoaches. Playing to that heritage at the expo, Wells Fargo included one of the coaches in the booth, where the company offered visitors a working express-delivery service to speed their packages home.
