orden Inc.’s condensed- and regular-milk products were long-standing household staples by the time this food show opened in 1922 in Washington, DC. But after buying up more than 200 dairy-related companies in the ‘20s, Borden poured itself into several cheese, ice cream, and butter products, including the Moon Girl Butter it promoted in this exhibit. Featuring female staffers clad in lunar-inspired costumes and offering free cups of freshly made buttermilk, Borden’s booth helped churn up butter sales and prevent the spread of butter’s archenemy, margarine.
