Nothing communicates your world dominance in the geographic information-systems (GIS) industry like a giant, overhead globe. This internally lit fabric globe for Topcon Positioning Systems Inc. communicates the company’s offerings — and provides a gravitational pull all its own.

Little more than tensioned fabric, dramatic lighting, and three-dimensional logos, this ceiling structure is the epitome of simplicity. Given the enormous volume of this gigantic oblong form, it creates a can’t-miss focal point and perfectly balances the 20-by-40-foot space below.

Looking for a little atmosphere on the show floor? Check out this simulated sky perched above an outdoor-grill display. Comprising eight 9-by-12-foot rear-projection screens suspended from a truss, the ceiling features faux cloud formations and a brilliant-blue sky.

You can’t proclaim “We love what we do” without at least a touch of whimsy in your booth. This suspended red-and-white structure features tension-fabric panels around the perimeter, with 13 orbs — seven of which function as light fixtures — dangling at various heights inside.

Generally speaking, nobody wants to see a giant chest x-ray suspended over their heads. However, for x-ray equipment provider Medlink Imaging LLC, it’s just what the doctor ordered. Comprising tension fabric on an aluminum frame, this ceiling structure is a prescription for memorability.

Want to focus attention on your booth? Try something like this three-tiered, tension-fabric structure paired with a canopy featuring the exhibitor’s name. While the canopy is self supporting, the fabric element is suspended from the ceiling, where it focuses attention on the information desk.
