CEIR Announces Keynote Speaker for Predict 2013
6/13/2013
The Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR) announces the 2013 keynote speaker for Predict to be held 12 September in New York City will be Clay Shirky, adjunct professor for New York University's graduate Interactive Telecommunications Program, where he teaches a course named "Social Weather." The author of several books including Cognitive Surplus: Creativity and Generosity in a Connected Age , 2010 and Here Comes Everybody: The Power of Organizing Without Organizations, 2009, Shirky has consulted with many organizations including Nokia, the BBC, Newscorp, Microsoft, BP, Lego, Global Business Network, the Library of Congress, the U.S. Navy, and his works have been published in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Times (of London) , Harvard Business Review, Business 2.0, and Wired.

Shirky will address attendees on real-time, economic factors affecting the exhibition industry and will engage ASAE President & CEO John H. Graham IV, CAE in a panel discussion, Collaborative Crowdsourcing and its Impact on the Exhibition Industry, about the economic health of associations.

"Associations play an important role in society, and it's critical for us to discuss the challenges we are facing, so we can meet these issues head-on and continue to thrive as well as provide professional and educational opportunities for our members, industry and the global community," Graham said.

With an ongoing uncertain global economy, forecasting and making business decisions is more difficult than ever. Predict's Program Committee has identified a power-packed speaker lineup and sessions that examine the tough issues facing executives in the exhibition industry. Attendees will focus on key economic indicators for the exhibition industry, examining reasons why some sectors performed so well in 2013, and others did not. This executive-level, one-day event is a highly intensive and interactive program, speakers will engage attendees by providing business insights and a strategic forecast for the CEIR Index's 14 industry sectors for the remainder of this year and through 2015.

Executives will discuss operating strategies including projected event growth, merger and acquisition strategies and planned launches. Attendance will be limited to exhibition industry C-level executives, merger and acquisition firms, private equity firms, debt providers, investment firms and the financial press to allow for a high-level idea exchange about the future of the exhibition industry and implications for specific business sectors and their supporting exhibitions.

The application and registration process is now open at www.ceir.org/predict.
