Switch Launches Lion Forge Comics with National Convention Tour
With such characters as Rampage Jackson: Street Soldier, Wondrous: The Adventures of Claire Sinclair and Catalyst Prime in tow, St. Louis-based Lion Forge Comics hit the comic convention circuit this year to introduce its new brand of digital comic books. Experiential marketing agency Switch: Liberate Your Brand was its sidekick on the adventure.
Much like Lion Forge's comic book characters, competing with established comic book brands D.C. Comics and Marvel Comics for a share of the marketplace takes innovation, determination and perseverance. To help introduce Lion Forge to the comic book world, Lion Forge CEO and founder David Steward II entered into a two-year agreement with Switch to design and create a trade show booth and coordinate appearances at some of the country's top comic book conventions. The official Lion Forge tour kicked off in March at St. Louis' Wizard World convention, attended by 30,000+ comic book fans. Switch also arranged booth appearances for Lion Forge at Wonder Con in Anaheim, CA; C2E2 in Chicago, IL and Comic Con International in San Diego, CA.
"We knew when we started designing Lion Forge's trade show booth for these events that it needed to be larger than life," said Switch Project Lead John Fowler. "With all of the unique activities and displays going on at these types of conventions, we knew that the Lion Forge brand needed to stand out in a big way. We accomplished this through a unique 20x30-foot booth design that incorporated large, rounded, almost tunnel-like elements flanked by blue LED lighting that complemented Lion Forge's glowing blue logo."
The goal of Switch's branding efforts was to not only introduce Lion Forge to the legions of comic book fans, but also to comic book illustrators and writers who may be interested in partnering with Lion Forge on future projects. To encourage visitors to Lion Forge's booth, Switch hired and trained brand ambassadors to walk around the show floor and hand out tokens to the convention visitors. Visitors were encouraged to bring their tokens to the Lion Forge booth for a chance to spin a digital wheel for prizes. Switch also worked with Lion Forge representatives on securing panel discussions at the conventions.
"We are very pleased with the initial branding efforts by the Switch team. They helped introduce Lion Forge to the comic book world, getting attendees to interact with our booth and coordinating opportunities for us to talk about our passion at these important industry events," said Steward.
