NAMM Show Rebooks Anaheim Convention Center Through 2018
The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) has signed a new five-year contract with the City of Anaheim and the Anaheim Convention Center to continue to hold the industry-only show through 2018.
The 2014 NAMM show will mark the 37th year this renowned music industry trade show has been in Anaheim. The NAMM Show is the largest trade show held in the Anaheim Convention Center, and in the last few years it has drawn nearly 95,000 registrants annually.
The 2013 NAMM Show marked the opening of the 100,000-square-foot Grand Plaza, the latest outdoor expansion of the Anaheim Convention Center's meeting campus.
Plans are in motion for the next expansion of the 1.6 million-square-foot Anaheim Convention Center. The proposed 200,000-square-foot meeting and exhibit space expansion is slated for approval later this year. This $180 million expansion project will enhance the Anaheim Convention Center and its ability to retain and attract new meeting and convention business, as well as hold its status as the largest convention center on the West Coast.
"The future 200,000-square-foot expansion of the Anaheim Convention Center will ensure that NAMM has the needed space to expand this prestigious industry trade show," said Jay Burress, President and CEO, Anaheim/Orange County Visitor & Convention Bureau. "The energy that NAMM brings to Anaheim is unique, and we look forward to a strong and successful partnership for years to come."
NAMM is the largest and longest-running musical instrument and product trade-only show in the world. The economic impact of hosting this large-scale trade show in Anaheim and Orange County is approximately $70 million dollars. Its impact is felt throughout the area in hotels, transportation companies, restaurants, entertainment venues and retail locations.
"The NAMM Show is a critically important part of our industry's annual cycle," said Joe Lamond, President and CEO of NAMM. "Our members value the relationship and appreciate the efforts of the entire Anaheim community in making the NAMM Show a continued success."
NAMM will be celebrating its 113th year of service to the music and sound products industry when it returns to the Anaheim Convention Center January 23-26, 2014, when thousands of music product retailers meet face-to-face with manufacturers from around the globe to purchase and gain product knowledge. The four-day show offers attendees an opportunity to test the latest musical instruments and equipment, conduct hundreds of business deals and learn about the industry news and trends.
