Club 815, Powered by The EDPA Foundation - Fundraiser for Mike Swartout
The following is a letter submitted by Kevin Carty of Classic Exhibits:
Friends, Colleagues and Family…
Every year for the past 13 years, as a proud cancer survivor, I have participated in a fundraising bike ride to raise money for Cancer research thru the Livestrong Foundation. This year I am doing the same, but its much more personal and close to home professionally and personally. This year I am raising money for a friend and colleague whom many of you know, Mike Swartout.
Mike has served as the Director of Design for Classic Exhibits since 2001. His efforts have been instrumental in Classic's design leadership in modular, hybrid and custom exhibits.
More than three years ago, Mike was diagnosed with Advanced Stage 4 prostate cancer. He has undergone several courses of radiation and chemotherapy. Many of the therapies Mike has endured have been experimental in hopes that the results will benefit future victims of this disease and increase their odds of survival. To those who work with him every day and to those who will benefit from the research, we are inspired by Mike's courage, strength and generosity. Mike's medical expenses during the past two years have created a severe financial hardship for him, his wife Janet, and his family.
On top of that, Mike does not have life insurance, which further imperils Janet's financial future once Mike is gone.
With the gracious help of The EDPA Foundation, a foundation that helps support our industry members in need or in times of tragedy, we have created "Club 815, Powered by The EDPA Foundation". A group of industry folks, friends and family that will be taking on Mt. Hood on our bikes… for 85 miles and more than 7000 feet in climbs.
I am asking for your collective support for the upcoming Hood River Gran Fondo Ride. We are are raising money thru our friends at the EDPA Foundation for our friend and co-worker Mike Swartout and his wife Janet. We have committed to riding this challenging 85 mile Pro-Style course to help raise money for Mike and Janet. And are asking and hoping you will donate to our ride. Thanks in advance for your 100% tax-deductible donation.

Lastly, as in years past, I plan on honoring those loved ones of yours that are battling or whom have lost their battles with Cancer. So please email me their names so that I can make sure that myself and our other team members can proudly where their names on our backs while we ride.
Thanks as always,
Kevin Carty, Vice President, Classic Exhibits
