Tailored Tours Joins Forces with Custom Conventions
We are delighted to announce that Tailored Tours has joined forces with Custom Conventions, one of the oldest and most experienced DMC / meeting planning companies in the country.
In September, Custom Conventions
acquired Tailored Tours New Orleans,
run by maverick Morgan Molthrop.
Molthrop, a former law professor and
Tourism Management major who
consulted for Disney, was born in New
Orleans and came home after Katrina.
The city he returned to was in
transition. Though he expected to return
to New York, he fell back in love with the
Big Easy and stayed.
He is now a top lecturer and helps reinterpret
the city for a new generation.
His historical background and
storytelling abilities have made him
popular among high-end tour groups
Poll: Nola Wins Travelers’ Hearts Because of its Authenticity
A poll conducted by the Boston
Consulting Group for the city of
New Orleans asked guests why
they choose the Big Easy. The
results, presented to local travel
professionals, can be boiled
down to one word: authenticity.
“No other city in America offers
the history or culture of New
Orleans,” said Steve Perry, CEO
of the CVB. NOLA attracts a
higher percentage of African
Americans and Hispanics than
other cities. Single travelers
choose NOLA as a destination,
too. “Also, we’re seeing more
culturally-engaged guests who
want more than a ‘Bourbon
Street’ experience.” said Perry.
This follows a national trend in
“experiential travel.” CCTT’s
proprietary research indicates
that travelers are increasingly
demanding tours and events that
go beyond the basic “cookie
cutter” city tour.
