IAEE and IAVM Form Special Convention Center Lease Agreement Task Force
The International Association of Exhibitions and Events™ (IAEE) and International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) have created a new task force to jointly examine convention center lease agreements and work toward creating best practices that will benefit all parties involved through clearer, more standardized contractual language. This task force follows an alliance between the two organizations announced earlier this year.
"The IAEE volunteer leadership and staff teams are thrilled to work closely with our exhibitions industry partners at IAVM to develop new and improved best practices and processes for convention center lease agreements," says IAEE President and CEO David DuBois, CMP, CAE, FASAE, CTA. "Our goals are mutually collaborative as we strive to improve the important relationships and workings between show organizers and convention center management."
"This is an initiative that was conceived by our convention center committee, as part of a desire to collaborate more closely with their show organizer customers," said Vicki Hawarden, CMP, IAVM's President and CEO. "We are excited to be able to work together with IAEE to produce guidelines that can have a real impact on the industry."
The purpose of the task force is to assist in making the convention center lease agreement contracting process more efficient and effective by combining efforts of venue managers, exhibition organizers and legal experts to create various contract clauses that can be used as "standards" in lease agreements. Final conclusions and recommendations of the task force will be published in a white paper.
