PPAI Expo 2014 Kicks Off with Record Numbers
The PPAI Expo, the 53rd largest trade show in the U.S., opened yesterday as a record-setting industry event with more than 1,400 exhibitors, 13,500+ pre-registered attendees and more than 100 education sessions across the largest trade show floor in North America’s promotional products industry – at a million square feet of exhibit and education space.
“We are excited to welcome the promotional products industry to the most significant event of the year,” said Paul Bellantone, CAE, PPAI’s president and CEO. “This year there is great anticipation and energy in the air as distributors and suppliers from around the world gather to take part in what is shaping up to be a record-setting event showcasing the best products and innovations in promotional products advertising, incentives and branded merchandise.”
Tony Hsieh, Zappos.com CEO and author of “Delivering Happiness,” delivered The PPAI Expo 2014 general session keynote address on Wednesday morning, imparting his unique perspective on how Zappos fosters its culture, creative ways to align an organization around core values, the “wow effect” as a marketing strategy and how to build a business model around happiness.
The Mark of a Leader’s CEO & Chief Storyteller Doug Keeley entertained the crowd with classic guitar riffs and showed the audience of business leaders how many of the world’s best leaders and companies have achieved success, and how to create similarly successful cultures and behaviors in organizations.
Valorie Burton, a regular guest on the TODAY Show, Dr. Oz Show, CNN and HLN, gave the keynote luncheon address to discuss understanding how to create the building blocks of resilience to bounce back from setbacks, withstand pressure and maintain a positive perspective and navigate disappointments in a way that makes the individual better, not bitter.
Mark Graham, of RIGHTSLEEVE and Bobby Lehew, of Robyn Promotions walked the audience through the three important models to consider in business and how to market a business to not merely survive turbulent times but to stay alive and thrive.

On Monday, PPAI launched the ‘Product Safety Aware’ industry education program. The program is designed to enhance industry-wide commitment and a culture where companies are not only aware of product safety but are leading the discussion at every level in the promotional products channel.
Pre-show events began on Monday and Tuesday with professional development and certification sessions drawing standing-room-only attendance. More than100 sessions featured education tracks highlighting business management, product responsibility, marketing, sales and service and technology.
