Tom Bowman to Present 'How to Tackle Green' at EXHIBITOR2014
2/27/2014
Tom Bowman, green business consultant and author of The Green Edge, will be conducting a half-day workshop at EXHIBITOR2014. The workshop, entitled "How to Tackle Green", provides trade show managers and event coordinators with the tools to develop and implement money-saving, sustainable programs. By using Bowman’s original research, participants will learn how to perform a cost-benefit analysis that allows them to prioritize green decisions to maximize both green impact and return on investment.

Bowman, who writes a monthly “Ask Mr. Green” column for EXHIBITOR Online and who is also chairman of the Exhibit Designer and Producers Association’s (EDPA) Sustainable Exhibit Leadership Committee, says sustainability gains in the exhibit industry will have significant impact on reducing the nation's greenhouse gas emissions. A 2012 Convention Industry Council report estimates the size of the United States meetings industry at $907 billion, or 5.6% of the national GDP. “My work focuses on understanding the commonalities in this very diverse industry and delivering simple, cost-effective solutions that any trade show or event marketing manager can implement. I am providing the science-based knowledge and outlining the first practical steps so that industry leaders who want to go green will be confident in the effectiveness of their actions,” says Bowman.

Bowman will also be launching his new book, The Green Edge, at EXHIBITOR2014. Bowman calls the book a “solution” and says his approach to going green does not require managers to work harder, just work differently. “I use real evidence to bust some troubling myths, including the idea that green costs more. When done correctly, going green will actually save your company money and strengthen your brand,” says Bowman. The book will be available at EXHIBITOR2014 and through online outlets, including www.amazon.com.
