MIC of Colorado Educational Conference Reports Record Attendance
The 14th Annual Meetings Industry Council (MIC) of Colorado Educational Conference and Trade Show was held at the Colorado Convention Center on March 12, 2014, with record attendance and a visit from Mayor Hancock. Over 950 professionals from the meeting and event planning industry were in attendance for a day of education with breakout sessions, workshops and lunch with renowned Keynote Speaker, Doc Hendley. In addition, more than one hundred suppliers from across North America had an opportunity to showcase their products and services during the afternoon tradeshow.
Mayor Hancock spoke to attendees during lunch and thanked everyone for their hard work and dedicated efforts to the meetings industry and acknowledged the impact it has made to the Front Range economy.
The 2013 MIC Leadership Award was also presented during the lunch program. Finalists for the award were Kathy Reak, with the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, Debbie Taylor, with Taylor Made Speaker and Events and Kristin Hutton, with the Brown Palace Hotel and Spa.
The winner of the 2013 MIC Leadership award was Kathy Reak. Reak, who is Director of Convention Sales, has been with the Colorado Springs CVB since 1988.
The Meetings Industry Council of Colorado, incorporated in 2000, is a partnership between 13 national and local member organizations either founded in Colorado or with chapters in Colorado. Rather than each association hosting its own annual conference and trade show, leaders from each of the organizations gathered to create an event in which all of their individual members would attend one large conference to maximize attendance and their return on investment.
The MIC Annual Conference and Trade Show is a unique opportunity for industry peers to gather and reconnect with one another and capitalize on the educational content from the best in the meeting and events industry. The Conference has become an important event that allows convention & visitors bureaus, hotels and other industry suppliers to reach a growing number of meeting professionals based in Denver and the Rocky Mountain region. Denver continues to grow as a meeting destination competing on a North American level with other large cities.
