A Dozen Groups Choose Springfield for National Conventions in 2016
1/28/2016
Twelve organizations have chosen to host their national events in Illinois’ state capital in 2016, taking advantage of the city’s renovated convention center, central location, economical pricing, and abundance of historic sites and attractions.

The groups that will be meeting in Springfield, Illinois this year are the Red Angus Association of America; the DeLorean Car Show, Inc.; the International Willow Collectors Club; the Divco Club of America; the International Flying Farmers; the Corvair Society of America; the National Impala Association; the Kaiser Frazer Owners Club; the Federation of Genealogical Societies; the Rathkamp Match Cover Society; the Fire Mark Circle of the Americas, and the USS Bainbridge DLGN-25/CGN-25 Reunion.

Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Gina Gemberling said, “We are thrilled to host such a diverse group of organizations, and think it speaks to our ability to accommodate a wide variety of event sizes and market segments. We work diligently with meeting planners to provide an outstanding experience for their attendees.”

Convention attendees enjoy visiting the Lincoln Home, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Old State Capitol, among many other Lincoln-related historic sites. Other popular attractions include Frank Lloyd Wright’s Dana-Thomas House and the Illinois State Capitol. In all, Springfield offers 47 different sites and attractions, many of them located in historic downtown. Several of the city’s sites are available as unique off-site venues.
