11/8/2012
-
Tom Bowman, chairman of Bowman Design
Group and president of Bowman Global Change, will present his session
"Effective Carbon Mitigation for Every Business" at the 2012 Behavior,
Energy & Climate Change Conference (BECC 2012). Based on original research
and the success of own company's green business plan - Bowman reduced
greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 65% and decreased annual operating costs
by $9000 in less than two years-Bowman will provide a cost-effective
strategy that cuts carbon emissions immediately.
Bowman calls the collective impact of America's small and medium sized
enterprises (SMEs) on reducing GHG emissions a great opportunity.
"Mobilizing America's small business sector to implement simple,
cost-effective green business plans can buy time while long-term
strategies such as renewable energy and transportation improvements are
developed," says Bowman. Small businesses are frequently overlooked when
it comes to climate response, since they are, by nature, independent and
diverse." says Bowman. Based on work with a wide variety of SMEs, Bowman
has developed a strategy to engage and motivate small business leaders to
develop green business plans that cut carbon emissions and improve the
bottom line.
