Derse Wins a 2012 EDDIE Award for 'Spoiler Alert!' Campaign
Derse has been recognized with an EDDIE Award from the Exhibit Designers & Producers Association (EDPA) for its 2012 “Spoiler Alert!” campaign. The EDDIE Award—the premier awards program honoring exhibit firms, agencies and suppliers for marketing excellence—recognizes self-promotion within the exhibit industry.
Derse won its award in the Large Tradeshow category for its exhibit at EXHIBITOR2012. The “Spoiler Alert!” theme, which drew inspiration from the pop culture warning meant to avoid giving away the plot for those who want to be surprised, promised trade show marketing professionals the ability to know the results their face-to-face marketing programs would produce before they spend their money (guided by a well-thought-out strategy).
The overall exhibit architecture created a visual barrier to the interior of the space with walls and doors. As a result, attendees first had to agree to exposure which was provided by three clearly defined doorways with three separate “experiences” that could be achievable after partnering with Derse. After a qualifying discussion to determine their personal goals, attendees were taken through one of three experiences: fame (represented by a crowd of live paparazzi who snapped flash photos, pressed for autographs and shouted questions), a promotion (represented by a simulated office party complete with cake and balloons) or a very large raise (represented by a bank vault filled with money and gold bars). All three experiences ended in a shared discussion lounge where the attendee was greeted with chocolate, bottled water and discussion with a Derse representative.
In addition to the exhibit’s creative attributes, Derse also realized measurable results from “Spoiler Alert!” that included 15 Requests for Proposals received and new lead goals exceeded by 13%.
"The key to success for every face-to-face marketing program is knowing what results you want, then building the strategy and program to accomplish them," said David Sherman, Vice President Creative Services for Derse. "It's gratifying to be recognized for making this, our mission, delightfully tangible to our audience."
