Badgetec Offers Button Tags with QR Codes to Replace Business Cards

It’s already happening at social-gatherings, events, trade shows and meetings where personalized badges or tags are issued. People are introducing themselves to others and can read, with their Smartphones, the other persons “contact info”. Electronic links from button tags and badges are in common use today for “contact-info transfer” (in place of business cards). It all began in the meeting and trade show industry a few years ago.
Two modern technologies have made this possible - the laser/inkjet printer and the QR Code. QR Codes are now replacing one and two-dimensional barcodes at trade shows for sales-lead-retrieval. A new round button tag introduced by Badgetec has facilitated this trend as they can be printed on die-cut sheets on most office laser and inkjet printers. Once printed, one simply separates the printed tags from the sheet and issues them to the individuals. Since most of the attendees have Smartphones, they can read any one of the several QR Codes (contact-info as well as ads, websites, promotions) provided on the front and back of the tag.
No pins or plastic holders are necessary with these new button tags. They are attached by the new Contour Clip® which fastens through a slot in the tag, then slides over the edge of one’s garments like a ‘paperclip’. This has made clothing-safe, non-adhesive tags practical, and brings the cost of a button tag below a dime.
Badgetec introduced its new round tags in 2010 for just this purpose. Using an entirely new clip design (the patent was issued September 2012), guests and attendees all wear their personalized nametags, printed both sides, with the graphics/QR Codes. These QR Codes can also link people to political candidates website. As a political plus, this insures the politicians that each person has access to the candidate’s message.
Historically, wearable round buttons has been popular since they were introduced in 1855 when the pin-back metal button was patented. Initially they were sold for political campaigns and product promotions. They provide many benefits to both the individuals wearing them and the organizations providing them, such as insuring visibility of the message, displaying QR Codes, facilitating face-to-face communication (the real purpose of gatherings anyway) and providing self-expression for the individual.
