Amusitronix - The VR Guys Provides Experience For Oklahoma Family On ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
4/23/2007
-
With the help of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, an Oklahoma family suffering from tragedy has received a state-of-art home renovation. Gene and Peggy Westbrook, and their two children, were first struck by disaster when, in April 2004, Gene Westbrook, a Sergeant in the US Army, was paralyzed by a mortar attack while stationed in Baghdad. Then, in July 2006, a car accident left the Westbrook’s nine-year-old son, James, paralyzed as well.
In the wake of these two devastating events, the Westbrook’s prayers were answered at last in February 2007 when Extreme Makeover: Home Edition stepped in. In as little as a week, the Westbrook home was completely rebuilt with the help of the Lawton, OK community and corporate donors, including Amusitronix – The VR Guys. The makeover sought to make the Westbrook’s ranch style house wheel chair accessible for Gene and James Westbrook, while improving the quality of life for the whole family.
When offered the chance to participate in the secret 'Ty’s Special Project’, Amusitronix – The VR Guys jumped at the opportunity. 'We were happy to help this incredibly deserving family,' says Amusitronix – The VR Guys President Mike Goldstein, who went to Lawton, OK in February to help with the install.
The Westbrook’s story aired on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Sunday, April 22, 2007.
