Global Economics
It's hard to fit cool trends like projection mapping into a small exhibit space, but with the PufferSphere, even a 10-by-10-foot booth can feature this state-of-the-art technology. PufferSpheres are acrylic or inflatable globes from 2 to 8 feet in diameter that feature a projection-mapping surface able to display video, text, motion graphics, and more. The device comes with a stand that houses the projection equipment, leaving a 360-degree display as your blank canvas. In addition,

spheres are compatible with interactive technologies and can be programmed to respond to touch. The device's high-contrast display offers clear imaging even in brightly lit spaces, and the flexible design allows the setup to be installed on the floor or a wall, or via overhead rigging. Taking Direction
Show floors are noisy, and live or video presentations in your booth can easily be drowned out in the din. But rather than turning up the volume, try creating a sound shower that rains audio exactly where you need it using "plane-wave" speaker technology. The SmartSource SoundShower Audio System consists of wafer-thin, flat panel speakers that provide highly directional sound to areas from 3-by-3 feet to 300-by-300 feet. A unique microphone and amplifier system gauges the ambient noise around each speaker and automatically raises or lowers the volume as needed. Video Star
Attendees get piles of mail from exhibitors before and after trade shows, and making your communique stand out can be a challenge. Sending a video postcard, however, creates a "wow" message that is virtually assured to be seen and shared by attendees who have likely never received anything like it. The Video Youbook postcard by Trackable Graphics is a 4-by-6-inch postcard printed on glossy cardstock and embedded with a 2.8-inch-square video screen activated by a simple on/off button. Videos loaded onto the cards can play messages of up to 10 minutes on a high-resolution LCD screen with crystal-clear sound, and the embedded battery will allow up to three hours of continuous playback. A customizable direct-mailer box and screens up to 7 inches are available. Contact: Trackable Graphics, West Palm Beach, FL, 561-967-0602, www.videoyoubook.com

Go to the Mat
If you want to count the number of people coming into your event, booth, or session, but you don't want to stand at the door scanning badges, Alliance Tech has you covered with its Radio-Frequency-Identification-enabled floor mat. Used in the proximity of RFID name badges, the inconspicuous mat logs each badge that passes over it, providing an exact count for ironclad metrics reporting. Mats can also collect unique attendee information as well as track the flow of traffic, transmitting all data collected to a cloud-based report accessible through a portal set up by you. Good on Film
When you want to swap out your booth's wall graphics in house and on the fly, removable wall clings from Drytac Co. are the perfect solution. The company's WallTac product is a PVC film that can be applied to virtually any surface with either a removable acrylic adhesive or an ultra-removable microsphere adhesive for graphics that may need to be repositioned. For added versatility, graphics can be

coated with a glossy, hard-coat laminate that transforms the surface into a dry-erase board. Rolls are 150 feet long and come in widths of 54 to 61 inches. What's more, the film can be printed on most solvent, UV, and latex printers. Contact: Drytac Co., Richmond, VA, 800-280-6013, www.drytac.com

Magic Wand
Though a powerful way to illuminate areas, fluorescent tube lighting in exhibits is impractical due to the fragility of the tubes, the high cost of running them, and the difficulties in recycling them. But Wandlites give old fluorescent tubes a complete makeover with low-voltage LED tape spiraled through virtually unbreakable plastic tubes that provide 360-degree illumination. Available in lengths of 31 to 79 inches, Wandlites put out 1,700 Lumens but use only about 1.5 amps of power per yard, making it possible to run them on battery and even solar power. Tubes also

have an RGB color option that will provide multicolored static or flashing effects via a controller, and Wandlite tubes have a 50,000-hour life expectancy. Wandlites install easily without tools, and multiple tubes can be linked together. Contact: The Wandlite Co. LTD, London, 44-20-3011-5060, www.wandlite.com
