NYC & Company Announces Significant Staffing Developments
NYC & Company, the official destination marketing organization for the five boroughs, announces one appointment and three promotions.
Lisa Tejeda has joined the organization as Director, Tourism Market Development, serving Latin America and the USA Hispanic market. In her new role, she will work together with NYC & Company’s travel trade representatives in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina to drive business to New York City’s five boroughs from these key markets, in addition to Colombia, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, and the United States. She reports to Makiko Matsuda Healy, Managing Director, Tourism Market Development.
“To say that I am excited about this opportunity is an understatement. New York City, a melting pot of diverse cultures and languages, is experiencing an unprecedented moment in its history with groundbreaking new developments, making it a truly unique destination to promote and sell. I look forward to engaging key members of the trade to further drive travel from the Latin visitor market in the year to come,” said Lisa Tejeda.
“We are proud to welcome Lisa to the NYC & Company team. She is a seasoned industry professional and we look forward to leaning on her expertise in further developing travel markets in Latin America and the United States as she settles into her role,” said Makiko Matsuda Healy.
Tejeda joins NYC & Company with more than 14 years of sales experience with AccorHotels Group and Hilton Hotels and Resorts. She previously served as Senior Group Sales Manager, overseeing leisure and incentive markets, at Novotel New York Times Square Hotel until March 2016, when she embarked on a two-year sabbatical to travel the world solo.
Tejeda holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Hotel Management from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in her native Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and is fluent in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. She currently resides in New Jersey.
Last month, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYC & Company announced that a record 62.8 million travelers visited New York City in 2017, comprising 49.7 million domestic and 13.1 million international visitors. Key source markets from Latin America represented more than 2 million visitors combined in 2017, with further growth expected this year.
Trudy Singh, CMP was promoted to Regional Vice President of Sales, Mid-Atlantic by NYC & Company, the official destination marketing organization for the five boroughs of New York City. A destination expert with more than 25 years of industry experience, Singh’s responsibilities include management of NYC & Company’s satellite office operations. Singh joined NYC & Company beginning in May 2000, as Director of National Accounts, followed by promotions to Regional Director of Sales and Director of Sales. She assists event planners of all sizes and budgets, year-round, in the Mid-Atlantic market. Earlier in her career, Singh was employed by Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, Hyatt Hotels and Resorts, and MeriStar Hospitality Corporation. Singh’s NYC tip for planners and delegates is to make business travel a family occasion with ‘Night at the Museum’ sleepovers offered by the American Museum of Natural History.
With more than twenty years of industry experience, Lisa Lopez has been promoted to Regional Vice President of Sales, Midwest at NYC & Company, the official destination marketing organization for the five boroughs of New York City. Over the course of her tenure with NYC & Company, Lopez began as Regional Director, National Accounts San Francisco Bay area in 2008, relocated to Minnesota in 2011, where she served as Regional Director, Sales and soon thereafter, was entrusted with the additional responsibility of Director of Sales, Midwest and Incentive, serving Midwestern markets for meetings and conventions. Previously, Lopez held positions with the Sonoma Mission Inn, Renaissance Hotels and Marriott Hotels. Lopez’s favorite season to recommend to planners is winter, due to the magic of the holidays and the value offerings—including 2-for-1 ticketing programs and price-fixe dining—available in the first quarter.
NYC & Company has promoted Cory Rosenberg to Director of Sales, West. A New Yorker residing in Southern California, he applies nearly 15 years of industry experience and connections to his role promoting New York City as the ideal MICE destination to large conferences of 151+ room nights on peak. Prior to joining NYC & Company as Regional Director, West in 2014, Rosenberg managed international sales at Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants and Intercontinental Hotels Group. Rosenberg’s NYC tip for planners is to consider The West Village—a perfect retreat from the hustle of Midtown—complete with cozy bistros along cobblestone side streets.
