EXHIBITOR Magazine to Honor Best North American Convention Centers
Exhibitor Media Group, which produces both EXHIBITOR magazine and Find It - Marketplace, the buyer's guide to trade show products and services, recently announced an initiative to identify and recognize North America’s best convention centers for trade shows and events. Small, medium, and large convention centers located anywhere in North America are eligible to apply. Entrants must have formal exhibit space but may include: standalone convention centers, resort/hotel-based convention centers, meetings/events spaces with dedicated exhibit halls, etc. In order to participate, entrants must complete the initial application and online entry form prior to the June 19 deadline.
Applicants will be evaluated using an objective algorithm weighted to reflect how EXHIBITOR magazine readers value a variety of criteria. The myriad criteria being considered have been categorized into five primary areas:
The evaluation process also includes a survey of event planners and/or show organizers who have recently hosted events at each facility, as well as a review of entrants' event spaces, selling points, and innovations, conducted by a panel of corporate exhibit managers. The highest-scoring convention centers will be notified in July and formally announced in conjunction with Expo! Expo! later this year. Five to six special award winners will be honored with plaques during Expo! Expo!, and all convention centers named among EXHIBITOR Magazine’s Centers of Excellence will receive recognition in print and online via a press release, online listing, and within the November issue of EXHIBITOR magazine.

"While individual exhibit managers rarely have a say in where their trade shows are held, they are often the ones most impacted by that decision,” said Travis Stanton, editor of EXHIBITOR magazine, noting that everything from the size of the bays on the loading dock to the cost and quality of Wi-Fi access can have a significant impact on exhibiting companies’ experience at a trade show or event. “This is their opportunity to give credit where credit is due and celebrate the exhibitor-friendly venues that do their part to make trade shows and events as smooth, successful, and painless as possible.”
