ormed in 1925, the Caterpillar Tractor Co. drove itself into the limelight just a few months later at the 1926 Road Show (the ancestor of what later became ConExpo-Con/Agg), depicted here in Chicago. Exhibiting its entire product line of five tractors at a national trade show for the first time, the Peoria, IL-based company went on to provide the construction and mining equipment that helped produce the Hoover Dam, build the Golden Gate Bridge, assist the Allies in World War II, and even clear the debris from Ground Zero after the devastation of 9/11.
