The Azerbaijan pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka is a sculptural and immersive space inspired by the legendary tale of The Seven Beauties. At its core is the idea of connection between people and cultures, and between Azerbaijan’s past and future.
Visitors enter through a sequence of seven arches, each one reflecting a different “beauty” or facet of Azerbaijani culture. These include elements such as poetry, craftsmanship, nature, music, architecture, and hospitality. As the journey unfolds, these cultural expressions begin to merge, gradually forming a unified spatial and thematic experience.
The architecture embodies this transformation. What begins as a series of distinct passages becomes an interwoven environment shaped by light, material, and rhythm. Traditional patterns appear in delicate screens, surfaces echo the textures of Azerbaijan’s landscapes, and spaces are shaped to invite reflection and curiosity. Inside, the experience engages all senses. Soundscapes blend natural and musical motifs, and visuals shift with the movement of visitors. Interactive moments invite participation, creating a fluid dialogue between space and guest.
The pavilion is not a static display but a living story. It invites guests to explore, feel, and connect. Through its spatial narrative, it celebrates the richness of Azerbaijani identity while offering a vision of a connected, inclusive future.
