The UAE pavilion, titled Earth to Ether, offers an immersive, multisensory journey through the UAE’s values, heritage, and bold ambitions for the future. Through a compelling blend of architecture, storytelling, and material innovation, the pavilion embodies the UAE’s mission to accelerate collective progress across space exploration, healthcare, and sustainable technology, empowering all life from Earth to Ether.

The experience begins before entry, as visitors approach a shaded exterior pergola made from Japanese cedar, paired with a canopy featuring Emirati khoos patterns, a traditional form of palm-frond weaving. The pavilion’s outdoor furniture artfully combines recycled agricultural date palm waste, DateCrete and Dateform, a pioneering date seed-based material from the UAE.

Inside, guests are welcomed by youth ambassadors with the warmth of Emirati hospitality and are guided by towering columns inspired by date palms, weaving through exhibits that blend traditional crafts and modern interactive screens. The narrative spotlights the UAE’s advancements in space exploration, healthcare, and sustainability, each represented by a central installation. The floor features woven jute mats with thematic titles, threaded using yarn made from date palm waste via a Japanese plant-based process, symbolizing sustainable innovation.

A central grove of 90 columns, crafted from date palm rachis and rising up to 16 meters, creates an oasis-like ambiance dotted with meaningful objects — like the Khanjar dagger and Dallah coffee pot — highlighting national values such as community and hospitality. The journey continues through three thematic zones: Explorers of Space features a soaring rocket ship woven from khoos, a traditional Emirati palm-frond weaving technique; Catalysts of Healthcare merges traditional Al Sadu textiles with digital exhibits on precision medicine and AI diagnostics; and Stewards of Sustainability showcases a kinetic installation inspired by sun-tracking solar panels, a dynamic tribute to the UAE’s forward-thinking efforts to build a climate-resilient future.

The experience concludes with “Woven Legacies,” capturing the essence of contemporary life in the UAE, at the heart of which lies our people and their deep-rooted connection to the UAE land. Three circular screens serve as storytelling canvasses, immersing visitors in the culture, traditions, and practices of Emiratis through documentary film. Guests are invited to sit on woven mats, as they delve into the versability of date palms, sustainable fishing practices, the Emirati respect for nature, and the vibrancy of urban life in the UAE.

Overall, the UAE pavilion offers a fully integrated experience across architecture, storytelling, and material innovation, inviting visitors to reflect, participate, and imagine a shared, sustainable future.
