Shanghai Fair Healthcare Makes Debut in Malaysia

3/30/2026

KUALA LUMPUR – The internationally recognised Shanghai Fair Healthcare Malaysia will make its inaugural debut in Malaysia on 22–23 May 2026 at Hall 1, Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC), marking a significant milestone in strengthening healthcare and medical trade collaboration between China and Southeast Asia.

Organised by the Shanghai Fair Committee and Shanghai Sail International Convention & Exhibition Co., Ltd., the exhibition will serve as a high-level platform for business matching, policy dialogue and cross-border healthcare collaboration between China and Malaysia. The two-day exhibition will bring together approximately 80 leading healthcare enterprises representing 160 exhibitors across a 3,126-square-metre exhibition space.

The Malaysia edition forms part of Shanghai’s broader “Health Silk Road” initiative and aims to create a high-impact platform that connects advanced Chinese medical technologies and solutions with Southeast Asia’s growing healthcare market.

Explaining the decision to bring the fair to Malaysia, representative from The Shanghai Fair Committee, said: “Southeast Asia has always been a dynamic and fast-growing hub for healthcare development. In recent years, we have observed Malaysia’s growing prominence in the medical tourism industry and its expanding healthcare ecosystem. At the same time, several member companies from the associations cooperating with us have expressed strong interest in entering the Malaysian market.

This exhibition allows us to lead a delegation of Shanghai-based enterprises to conduct on-site engagement, gain deeper understanding of the local healthcare landscape and explore meaningful partnership and investment opportunities. We see this as an important step in strengthening bilateral medical cooperation between China and Malaysia.”

The exhibition will showcase a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem spanning:
  • Medical Equipment – imaging systems, in-vitro diagnostics (IVD), therapeutic and emergency equipment, etc.
  • Medical Consumables – surgical, infusion, nursing and interventional products, etc.
  • Health Consumption – home monitoring devices, wellness and beauty care, rehabilitation and elderly care solutions, traditional Chinese medicine devices, health supplements, etc.
  • Medical Services – medical technology collaboration and R&D services, medical supply chain and logistics services, as well as rehabilitation and healthcare services, etc.
A key highlight is the strong participation from the Shanghai Yangtze River Delta Medical Device Industry Development Promotion Association, representing listed companies, state-owned enterprises, industry leaders and high-tech innovators.

The exhibition is expected to attract decision-makers including hospitals, medical universities, research institutions, pharmacy chains, rehabilitation centres, clinics, distributors, and import/export traders.

A proposed signing ceremony between the Shanghai Yangtze River Delta Medical Device Industry Development Promotion Association and the Malaysia Medical Device Association (MMDA) is also expected to further deepen bilateral industry cooperation.

Malaysia’s healthcare and medical device sector continues to expand, driven by digitalisation, aging demographics, and increased demand for advanced diagnostics and minimally invasive technologies. The Shanghai Healthcare Malaysia offers local stakeholders’ direct access to:
  • New product distribution opportunities
  • Cross-border partnerships and technology transfer
  • Investment prospects in medical innovation
  • First-mover advantage in engaging China’s leading healthcare manufacturers
The event provides a rare opportunity for Malaysian importers, distributors, hospital procurement teams, and investors to connect directly with vetted, top-tier enterprises from one of China’s most advanced medical manufacturing regions.

Healthcare institutions, distributors, investors, and industry stakeholders are invited to register early to secure participation in the business matching sessions and networking activities.

“Looking ahead to 2026, Malaysia has been identified as a key focus country for further expansion. Through this upcoming edition, we aim to foster meaningful collaborations across both the academic and trade sectors, and deliver tangible, mutually beneficial outcomes for all stakeholders. We warmly welcome all interested parties to participate,” said a representative from the Shanghai Fair Committee.
