Days of Future Past
First held in New York in 1967, the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) moved to Chicago in 1971, and added Las Vegas as an additional venue in 1977. From then until 1997, the show ran a winter version in Las Vegas, and a summer version – like the 1978 one here – in Chicago. Growing from 17,500 visitors its first year to about 150,000 in 2014, CES has served as the launching pad for disruptive technologies that rocketed into everyday life, including the VCR, satellite radio, Blu-Ray Disc, digital video recorders, the Xbox, tablets, netbooks, and more.
