Q.
I've always used Sintra for my booth graphics, but I'd like to switch up my graphic game a bit to add some interest. What new and/or on-trend options should I consider?A.
Fabric continues to be a popular graphic substrate because it's far lighter than many other materials. And thanks to advances in printing technology, it offers crisp images and vibrant colors. Environmentally friendly substrates are also increasingly popular, given their rising affordability. Cardboard and even heavy-duty, high-quality paper products, which are often made using recycled content, are a unique and eye-catching medium. What's more, these choices can usually be recycled after use, giving them second and third lives. Along these same lines, Falconboard is primarily sourced from renewable forest resources and is easily recyclable, making it more sustainable than foam boards made from polyvinylchloride (PVC), polyethylene, or polystyrene. If you want your company name to stand out – literally – consider 3-D elements. For example, a foam substrate known as expanded polystyrene (EPS) has been used to create everything from simple 3-D lettering that makes your messaging pop off a surface to elaborate sculptural elements, such as supersized versions of your company's products.
Another outside-the-norm medium for exhibitors looking to add a little dimensionality to their graphics is Palboard, a PVC-based substrate that can be bent into almost any shape. This product can be clad in photo-quality imagery, resulting in graphics that are undeniably more intriguing than 2-D alternatives.
