Lynnwood Convention Center Celebrates Ten Years

April 30, 2015, the Lynnwood Public Facilities District marked the tenth anniversary of the opening of the Lynnwood Convention Center. Last year was the facility's fifth consecutive "Best Year Ever", generating $3.1 Million in gross revenue and marking the second consecutive year the facility did not require an operating subsidy. Additionally, SMG, the management company for the Lynnwood Convention Center, has maintained high guest satisfaction scores of 94% for Food & Beverage and a 96% overall satisfaction rating. In the past ten years, a wide range of events have taken place including conventions, consumer shows, corporate meetings, fundraising auctions, weddings, community gatherings, religious services, and memorial services. To date, the Lynnwood Convention Center has hosted 3,900 events and more than 753,096 guests, generating an estimated $152 Million in economic impact for the local economy. "The City of Lynnwood wishes to extend heartfelt congratulations to the Lynnwood Convention Center and the Public Facilities District on their ten year anniversary. Thanks to the stewardship of the Public Facilities District and SMG, the Convention Center has been a great economic asset to our community, bringing a multitude of visitors for conventions, tournaments and special events," said Mayor Nicola Smith. "We are confident the Lynnwood Convention Center will continue to be very successful and we truly appreciate having such a great facility in our community." The Lynnwood Public Facilities District was first created in 1999 and construction for the convention center began in October 2003. Under the management of SMG, the 53,985 sq. ft. state-of-the-art convention facility opened its doors to the public on April 30, 2005. The convention center plans to hold an anniversary celebration in the fall.
