Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre is Open and Ready to Welcome Events
6/25/2020
Following the Malaysian Government’s announcement to allow the resumption of domestic business events of up to 250 participants with the necessary precautions in place, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) is thrilled and excited to recommence operations and is taking bookings with immediate effect for events commencing from 1 July 2020. In preparation for this much anticipated announcement, the Centre has proactively refined its comprehensive venue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), in line with Government requirements, to deliver a controlled and regulated environment to protect and provide reassurance to employees, guests and attendees. As part of this, the Centre has prepared its venue operations team and created product offerings to accommodate flexible terms, adaptable spaces, and meeting design plans and capacities, to satisfy all required protocols. Recognising the critical role health, safety and hygiene will play in the ‘new normal’ for business events moving forward, the Centre’s rigorous SOPs include controlled access points for attendees with temperature checks, declaration forms and guests asked to use hand sanitiser and encouraged to wear masks; capacity controls and new event set ups and layouts to enable social distancing measures; enhanced plans for the controlling movement around the venue, queue management and F&B provision; increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting in all spaces; new protocols to reduce touchpoints, including contactless transactions; air quality control measures; and monitoring systems. The Centre’s General Manager, Alan Pryor, said, “We cannot wait to see our clients, hear about their needs and help them conceptualise what we can deliver as their event partner. We want to really thank all our clients who have demonstrated great understanding and loyalty and stuck with us during this difficult time. Our team have been working hard over the last few months to enable us to safely welcome events back to the Centre.” He continued, “Business events are our area of expertise, knowledge and experience and we are confident that as a purpose-built venue, we can offer a safe, secure and controlled environment for successful events that will provide peace of mind for organisers and attendees. As a venue, we focus on being flexible and adaptable, and have the necessary expertise to run extremely well organised events tracing every one of our team members, participants, organisers, contractors and suppliers. The health and well-being of everyone in our venue has always been our top priority and this hasn’t changed today.” “We welcome the Malaysian Government’s decision to allow us to begin hosting business events once again. Event venues are economic engines for their communities, creating significant revenues as well as jobs, and will play a critical role in supporting Malaysia’s social and economic recovery. We look forward to working in solidarity with the Government and industry supply chain to drive the resurgence of events. If everyone stands together, we are confident Malaysian business events will thrive again,” Pryor, who is also the Chairman of the Business Events Council Malaysia (BECM), concluded.
