Modular Frames
in 55 or 62... That's Not the Question.
By: Jillian Fafard, Director of Marketing, US, Aluvision
Modular design and creative flexibility are the top requests brands ask of their exhibit producers and experiential agencies. Yet seldom do these brands ask who the modular system manufacturer is, and why their event partner chose them for their rental inventory.
Some might argue that it doesn't matter; a frame is a frame, and they all provide the same benefits in terms of reusability, reconfigurability, and cost-effectiveness over custom-made assets.
Unpopular opinion: They're wrong.
When it comes to the manufacturer, you want a modular systems provider who does more than offer products that work. Instead, you want an OEM who's looking out for your best interests by optimizing their solutions for versatility, efficiency, and creativity of use to help you make the most of every dollar you spend. Even though you're not their direct customer.
One Size Doesn't Fit All
During the early adoption of modular frames in the U.S., there was a range of widths from domestic and international suppliers. Commonly used were systems between 2-2.5" (55-62mm) wide, as the most stable and durable for heavy-duty structures.
As modular systems became standardized, some OEMs chose to stay with 55mm while others went with 62mm. Aluvision chose to stay with the thinner profile because of its ecofriendly implications for helping our customers and their customers be more sustainable.
The Merits of 55
Aluvision empowers our partners to store our lightweight aluminum frames in horizontal stacks using specially made reusable frame stackers. Packing 55mm frames horizontally allows for more frames per crate, letting exhibit producers and creative agencies reduce their carbon footprint by increasing inventory without expanding their facility. For brands using these modular systems for the buildout of their event spaces, fitting more frames in each crate means possibly fewer crates, thus reduced trucks and fuel used in transportation.
For the end-user, reducing crate quantity decreases shipment weight, which increases opportunities for shipping and material handling costs.
Over the decades, Aluvision has proven that the 55mm width is just as strong, durable, and stable as 62mm. Through precision engineering and focused R&D, we have established a complete line of modular frames, LED tiles, and LED edge-lighting solutions for building branded spaces from floor to ceiling, to 3-D and hanging structures.
But Wait, Aluvision Offers 62?
Aluvision is passionate about providing quality customer service and innovation that matters. Each year, we see more modular system providers pop up, offering their version of flexible, reusable frames, and most often in 62mm width. No one compares to Aluvision's material quality, engineering standards, or design aesthetic. None rival our range of accessories.
We could not let our customers and brands across the globe invest their time and money in subpar modular frames.
Aluvision entered the 62 market with our headliner product, Omni pro. While our standard 55 profiles offer the quality, durability, and stability any design needs, we recognized the opportunity to provide our partners with a 62 range they could trust to perform. Now, we have a 62 counterpart to almost every 55 modular frame and profile we offer.
What Matters Most: Durability & Versatility
With a split in the modular frames market between 55 and 62, it's logical that some companies prefer one size over the other. Instead of making our partners choose a size, we focus on what matters most.
Across the Aluvision 55 and 62 ranges, our modular systems are so precisely made that our unique way of assembling frames ensures down to the millimeter a perfect fit and better look for full-length SEGs stretched across a widespan structure.
Our standard anodized aluminum and powder-coated black finishing options both offer a sleeker look to blend in or stand out on the event floor, with the added benefit of protecting the profiles from corrosion, scratches, and dirt, increasing their durability and longevity. With toolless assembly and a plug-and-play model, Aluvision solutions offer endless combinations, seamless integration between systems, and complete freedom of configuration. Labor can be better forecasted.
The proof is visible throughout the world: Our partners can use the same Aluvision frames and accessories to execute astoundingly different, inspiring, innovative events.
